The Fonts

28.07.2024

Fonts are one of the essential elements of graphic design and typography. They influence the way text is perceived and can strongly affect the legibility and aesthetics of light signs.

We will explore the different types of fonts, their specific characteristics and how they can be used in different contexts.

Choosing the right font is essential to communicate your message effectively.

The target audience should also be considered. A font that is too elaborate may be difficult for older people to read, while a font that is too simple may seem banal to a young and dynamic audience.

Commonly used font types for neon LED signs
1. Sans Serif fonts are modern and minimalist fonts, such as Comfortaa and Gilroy, suggest a sense of professionalism and simplicity, suitable for technology or service brands. The simple and unadorned style makes them suitable for modern and minimalist designs. They are also often used in professional and corporate documents to convey a sense of simplicity and efficiency.

2. Handwritten fonts are designed to resemble handwriting, giving a casual and personal look. Examples from our configurator are Beach Front, Amsterdam, You are a toy, Lansbury, Tallia, Meow Script, Throw My Hands Up In The Air and Hiyagh Ahey. These fonts are best suited for informal designs and personal projects, adding a touch of authenticity and warmth. They're often used in friendly and playful contexts, such as party invitations, social media posts and educational materials for children. Although less formal, they can add a sense of closeness and sincerity to the projects in which they are used.

3. Decorative or script fonts can be used for brands that want to convey a sense of elegance or creativity. Our examples are Averox, Glow, Potra and Lovelo. These fonts are best suited for special effects, themed projects and novelty uses where a strong and distinctive visual impact is desired.

However, care must be taken that such fonts do not compromise legibility, especially at night.
